iOS 7.1.2 Available for Download

Apple has released iOS 7.1.2 to iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users addressing some issues that haven’t been widely circulated but were apparently in dire need of fixing. The update contains “bug fixes and security updates,” so it’s definitely worth looking into.

Available over the air (OTA) thus far, iOS 7.1.2 packs security patches and a number of fixes for things like iBeacon and connectivity with third-party accessories. The Mail app is also being addressed from a data protection standpoint.

Specifically, the update improves iBeacon connectivity and stability, while fixing a bug with data transfer for some third-party accessories, including bar code scanners. As far as the Mail fix is concerned, iOS 7.1.2 corrects an issue with data protection class of attachments.

The security side of the update is currently unavailable in any Apple Support documentation, so we’ll have to wait until a little bit later to catch a glimpse of that as well.

For who’s curious to know, iOS 7.1.2 goes onto iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPod touch fifth generation.
